The quest stage that matters for the wish is The Elder's Market & The Master's Test: Idol Favor level 5, buy anything from Elder Kaito's shop, and accept a task from Master Hiroto. Then pick one Ancient Idol and finish all five of its trials. Skycrest has seven: Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku, and Amanojaku. Progress does not mix. Three trials on one idol and two on another still counts as unfinished. If you only want the wish unlocked, Nagomi is the short path. Its chain is stay still for 60 seconds, interact with a companion 10 times, catch 20 Common, Uncommon, or Unusual fish, catch 100 fish with Crab Cages, then catch one Grandpa Horseshoe Crab in a Crab Cage. Wish of the Sky lists eligible rods. Guides name Acidgrinder, Castbound, Cinderstring, Eardrum, Fallen Snowblade, Lullaby, MiguRod, Noiseform, Nocturne, Part, Remembrance, Soulreaper, Steampunk Rod, Test Rod, Wingkeeper, and Wingripper, but your menu only shows rods you do not already own. Confirming a name starts that rod's original quest. You still have to finish the quest to hold the rod. Spend it on a vaulted rod you cannot start any other way. A permanent rod with a live quest is a waste of the one wish. Money-guide picks this week lean MiguRod if you want cash and relic speed, and Astraeus Serenade or Castbound if those names are actually on your menu. Read the list before you confirm. A patch can change it.

   Reach Skycrest from the Fischfest waterfall, talk to Keeper of the Sky, and finish The Elder's Market & The Master's Test: Idol Favor 5, one purchase from Elder Kaito, and one accepted task from Master Hiroto.

   Clear all five trials on a single Ancient Idol. Nagomi is the fastest if you only want the wish: stand still 60 seconds, pet a companion 10 times, catch 20 ordinary fish, catch 100 fish in Crab Cages, then cage a Grandpa Horseshoe Crab.

   Find Ryusei at about -26331, 3150, -4459, say you are ready, and pick a vaulted rod you cannot earn normally.
