What it is
Warden protecting Sift rumors are the comment-section claim that Minecraft's Warden was never the monster of the Deep Dark. It was standing guard over the Sift, the new dimension Mojang showed at Minecraft Live on September 26, 2026. TikTok Creator Search Insights had the phrase at 4.77 million searches by September 29, the day Minecraft Dungeons II launched.
Sofia Dankis's recap on Minecraft.net is the part that is actually in the show. The Sift is the first new Minecraft dimension in over 14 years. It joins the Overworld, the Nether, and the End, and it is due in Java and Bedrock next year. In Dungeons II you reach it by falling into a rift. The broadcast walked the Meadow and the Carapace, and the footage includes a small mob the wiki lists as the blub. Dankis calls the place teeming with souls. She does not mention the Warden at all.
The rumor starts the next morning on a repost. On September 27, @faxtoria0 (Clipssonics) uploaded a TikTok credited "Ctto: PhoenixSC. The Sift (4th) Dimension, in Minecraft," on original sound. The comments under that post write the claim in plain lines. "so the warden was the sift's guardian." "The warden was protecting a paradise from monsters."

That is the format: one sentence of lore, typed like a realization.
Shorts copied the sentence onto Ancient City footage. OBLIMMONSTER titled one "What if the warden protected the new sift dimension" and tagged #siftdimension #warden #theory. punu plays posted "What The Warden Was Actually Protecting..." with #siftmc. Neither clip is a patch note.
The tie people are making is old Deep Dark reading (the Warden guards a ruin you are supposed to sneak through) plus the new Sift footage (a soul-filled place Illagers steal from in the Dungeons II cinematic). A pre-launch GamerFuzion read of the September 1 tie-in novel The Rift says the book describes the Sift as a place of peace.
Commenters turned that into "we were the monsters."
Minecraft Dungeons II is out as of September 29, so the paradise line can be checked against the game instead of a comment. Mojang still has a separate Twisted Warden on the sequel's quest list, and the August posts never explained how that boss connects to the High Council or to vanilla's Warden. Treat "protecting the Sift" as a rumor until a dev says it.
How to try it
Record over Ancient City footage or a legal clip of the Sift reveal. One line of text is the whole bit: "the warden was protecting the sift" or "we were the monsters." Hold on the Warden for a beat, then cut to the pink and green Sift blocks from the September 26 broadcast.

Two angles are already up. A comment-reply restates the guardian line in your own words under a Sift explainer. A what-if short, like OBLIMMONSTER's, asks the question in the title and lets the Ancient City portal do the rest. Keep the Twisted Warden boss fight out of this one. That is a different Dungeons II enemy Mojang has not tied to this rumor.
