What it is
The Let's Groove animation meme is a remake format, not a live dance challenge. Creators take the Kronk and Ms. Birdwell kitchen dance from Disney's 2005 direct-to-DVD film Kronk's New Groove and rebuild it with other characters. The audio is Earth, Wind & Fire's 1981 track Let's Groove. The shot stays a two-person groove: hip sways, arm circles, Saturday Night Fever energy, while raisin bread supposedly bakes offscreen.
Know Your Meme traces the earliest matching fan animation to April 2, 2024, when Yuramec posted Spooky Month characters Father Gregor and Moloch dancing the routine on X as an April Fools deleted scene. A YouTube reupload titled Lets spook tonight kept that version circulating. The format stayed niche until late August 2026, when Blender and SFM creators flooded Discord, Reddit, TikTok, and YouTube with fresh pairs. Creator Search Insights logged about 2.84 million searches for lets groove animation meme during that spike.
The late-August catalyst a lot of animators point at is Boseanim's Deadlock clip Ivy And The Lash Groove It (August 28, 2026). Within days, olepatrick shipped Ultrakill's V1 and V2 in the same blocking, Robbie Animations put Zooble and Caine from The Amazing Digital Circus in the kitchen, and FNAF SFM accounts joined with Security Breach casts.
Know Your Meme also flags TikTok hits from @sc128_blueblur (All-Glamrock Edition, August 30) and @bchungusyt (Gordon Freeman with Hatsune Miku, August 31), plus Marvel Rivals and Deltarune ship edits on Instagram and TikTok.
What people make is concrete. Pick two characters, match the Kronk/Birdwell choreography beat for beat, and drop Let's Groove under it. Title patterns like X and Y Groove It help the remake show up next to the CSI phrasing. Animators on r/animation note a practical sync trick: place keyposes about two frames before the audible beat so the sway reads on time at full speed.
Do not confuse this with the 2021 TikTok Let's Groove Tonight spin dance or the Previous Owners car-spec overlays. Those used the same song for live body movement and dating-history text. This wave is 3D remakes of one Disney kitchen scene. If you cannot point to Kronk and Ms. Birdwell as the reference, you are in the wrong stack.
Sound cue: the song's groove hook, usually cut so the pair hits the hip-sway on let's groove tonight. Formats that land are fandom ship bait, odd-couple matches, and Pixar-looking body-type swaps that keep the silhouette joke readable.
How to try it
Format recipe: load two character rigs in Blender or SFM, reference the Kronk/Ms. Birdwell kitchen dance from Kronk's New Groove, and time the hip sway and arm circles to Earth, Wind & Fire's Let's Groove. Keep the shot a readable two-person disco bit. Nudge keyposes about two frames early so the beat feels locked at full speed.
Angles that land: ship an odd couple from one fandom, swap body types for a silhouette gag, post a side-by-side with the Disney clip, or title it X and Y Groove It so searchers land on the remake stack.
Hashtag / search pack: #LetsGroove #KronksNewGroove #animationmeme #blender #3danimation plus CSI phrasing lets groove animation meme. Credit the song and the original scene in the description so remakes stay findable.
