What it is
The Brook meets Gunko scene is the Elbaf stretch of One Piece where Holy Knight Manmayer Gunko comes face to face with Brook, the Straw Hats' skeleton musician. TikTok Creator Search Insights already had that phrasing at 1.67 million searches on September 7, 2026, the morning after episode 1177.
It is two broadcast beats. Episode 1176, "The Threat of the Arrow-Arrow Fruit - Gunko vs. the Straw Hat Crew," aired August 30 and puts Gunko on Colon's ship with Nami, Usopp, Jinbe, and Brook.
Episode 1177, "A Despicable Hostage Game - Sommers' Fearless Intimidation," aired September 6 and adapts the chapter where she plants a foot on Brook and tells him to be her music slave. He refuses. The One Piece wiki records the line: he would rather die than live without honor, because he only takes orders from Luffy.
The refusal hurts her, and she does not know why. MyAnimeList threads from that night treat the slave threat as the Brook moment in 1177, with the rest of the episode handed to Sommers' broadcast.
That first meeting is what people were hunting the week the search count spiked. Google Videos still surfaces a @miira.d.jane TikTok filed under episode 1177, posted in the weeks after it aired, with Brook and Gunko in the title.
September 20 reopened the search. Episode 1179, "One Do-or-Die Second - Gaban vs. the Knights of God," is mostly Scopper Gaban against the Knights. India Times' recap the next day puts the Brook cut in a specific order. Gunko figures out Colon is Gaban's son and uses the boy as leverage. Gaban drops his weapons. Colon's crying knocks something loose.
Gunko moves toward Brook. Brook clocks that she is familiar. Before either of them can finish the thought, Imu takes her body. A viewer post the night it aired said Toei adapted chapter 1149 for the episode. The anime still does not say her old name out loud.
The clips ranking now are that hinge, not a dance. AnimexMovie Tube posted "DOES BROOK KNOW GUNKO?! One Piece Ep 1179" on September 25. Sarotsi X titled a short "Gunko finally remembered Brook, but Imu..." Otaku Luffy cut "The Moment Gunko Recognized Brook." AniTurks ran a 50-second version of the same recognition. Toei Animation's own TikTok posted a 1:07 of episode 1179 on original sound, tagged #ONEPIECE #Gunko #Brook #Imu. There is no separate track. You chase the episode audio and the on-screen question.
If you only watch the anime, stop where 1179 stops. Manga chapter 1173, out in February 2026, already has Brook call her Princess Shuri and "the father-killing princess." Saying that name in an anime reaction spoils a chapter the show has not reached. Episode 1180 aired September 27, so a plain 1179 recut is already a week late unless you stitch it to whatever 1180 did with Imu.
How to try it
Pick one hinge and keep the clip short. For the September 7 search, that is episode 1177: her foot on Brook, the music-slave order, his refusal. For the wave still circulating, it is episode 1179: Colon's cry, her face breaking, the step toward Brook, Imu taking the body. Record a reaction over a legal stream, or stitch two shots you shot yourself. Do not upload the full episode.
Leave the episode audio in. Put the words people type on screen, "brook meets gunko" or "does Brook know Gunko," and cut when Imu takes over. There is no dance sound under this. Toei's own post of the scene uses original audio.
Two angles are doing numbers. A cold reaction pauses on her eyes and answers whether Brook recognizes her. A stitch runs the September 6 refusal into the September 20 walk, so the memory has a setup. Leave Colon's hostage beat out of joke edits. He is a kid used as leverage.
Search pack: brook meets gunko scene, #ONEPIECE, #Gunko, #Brook, #Imu, #Elbaf, episode 1179. The fresh window was Sunday September 20 and the day after. Episode 1180 already aired September 27, so a late post needs the next cut or it looks late.

Common questions
- What is the Brook meets Gunko scene?
- It is the Elbaf anime beat where Holy Knight Gunko comes face to face with Brook. In episode 1177 she orders him to be her music slave and he refuses. In episode 1179 a buried memory sends her toward him, and Imu takes her body before they can talk.
- Which episode is the Brook and Gunko scene in?
- The first full meeting is episode 1177, which aired September 6, 2026, after episode 1176 set Gunko on Colon's ship on August 30. The clip people are posting now is episode 1179, "One Do-or-Die Second - Gaban vs. the Knights of God," which aired September 20.
- Does Brook know Gunko?
- In the anime, he notices she is familiar and she moves toward him once Colon cries. Episode 1179 stops there. Brook also rejects her weeks earlier, in 1177, and the refusal visibly hurts her. The show has not said her old name yet.
- Why does Gunko want Brook as a music slave?
- She is already a fan of Soul King Brook. When she has him trapped in episode 1177 she demands he make music only for her, the way a World Noble talks to someone they have caught. He tells her he would rather die than live without honor, because he only takes orders from Luffy.
- What should I leave out of a reaction?
- Do not spoil Princess Shuri. Manga chapter 1173 already uses that name, and the anime has not caught up. Also skip joke edits of Colon being held hostage. He is a child, and Gaban drops his weapons to keep him alive.
